Our Level 1 Reactive Dog Class is the right place to start — an introductory, small-group class (limited to 6 dogs) for dogs who react to people, other dogs, handling, or environmental triggers.
Level 1 - Reactive Dog Class (introductory)
This class is perfect for Baltimore-area dogs with reactivity challenges — whether your dog reacts to people, other dogs, handling, or environmental triggers. Level 1 focuses on building a strong, trust-based relationship with your dog while teaching skills to prevent escalation and manage reactive behaviors safely.
Course Details:
📅 Dates: 9/20 (online), 9/27 (online), 10/4, 10/11, 10/18 & 10/25
🕘 Time: Sundays, 12:45-1:45 PM (Arrival 12:30pm)
💰 Cost: $759 for the 6-week course

Level 1 – Webinar Classes Requirement
To ensure a safe and positive experience:
The first two sessions are held online in a webinar-style format.
All dogs and guardians must attend these webinars before attending in-person classes.
After the second webinar, guardians will submit a short video of their dog before joining the third in-person session.
These steps help us assess your handler skills as well as the dog’s progress, reactivity, and comfort so we can create a safe environment for all dogs and humans.

Our training inquiry form includes a lot of questions. Please answer them to the best of your ability—if you don’t know, it’s okay to say so! Plan 30–45 minutes to complete.
Level 2 - Reactive Dog Class (intermediate)
Level 2 is designed for dogs in Baltimore and nearby communities who have completed Level 1 and are ready to practice advanced coping strategies in real-life situations. Guardians will continue building a trust-based relationship while their dog learns to navigate triggers with confidence.

💰 Cost: $500 for the 4-week course
📍 Location: MD SPCA outdoor training space, Hampden, MD

Prerequisite: Completion of Reactive Dog Class 1

Do you offer reactive dog training near me?
Yes — reactive dog classes are held in person in the Baltimore area, in small groups limited to 6 dogs so every dog and guardian gets individualized support.
Is This Class Right for My Dog?
Reactive dog classes are open to guardians with a dog who has recognizable triggers while out on a walk.
A trigger can be anything that sparks a response—other dogs, people, bikes, cars, or even unexpected sounds. If your dog reacts strongly on leash, this class is designed for you.
What's the difference between Level 1 and Level 2?
Level 1 is our introductory class for any Baltimore-area dog with reactivity — whether the trigger is people, other dogs, handling, or environmental. Level 2 is for dogs who've completed Level 1 and are ready to practice advanced coping strategies in real-life situations.

What We Offer
Baltimore k9 Tutors sliding scale services are available on a first-come, first-serve basis each month.
We have set number of spots available for sliding scale enrollment each month. If a sliding scale spot is not available at the time of request, it can be reserved for a future month.
Please note that sliding scale programming is not a simple “discount.” If you are able to pay for full-price services, please do, this is how we can ensure that our sliding scale options are available for those who need low cost dog training.
How to Access
Our sliding scale structure is not based on income alone, and we do not require you to provide any “proof” of need. What you can afford is related to your finances, but it’s not as simple as how much money you make. To qualify for our sliding scale pricing, just tell us you would like to use our sliding scale option!
How do I choose what to pay?
The Green Bottle chart (see here) expands our understanding of financial privilege and experience. Please use it to determine the level you’re able to invest in dog training services. See below for image description.
Where do classes take place?
Classes are held indoors at Good Doggie Day Care in Baltimore, MD. Please note that the training space is not wheelchair accessible. If you use a wheelchair or other mobility device, please reach out in advance so we can discuss the space, your accessibility needs, and how we can best support you and your dog.
Street parking is available nearby, and there is also a parking lot next to Good Doggie Day Care that is available for class participants.

Yes! Street parking is available near Good Doggie Day Care, and there is also a parking lot next to the facility that class participants may use.
Weather Policy
When conditions make it unsafe for us to travel, classes may take place virtually.
Notification: You’ll receive an email 3 hours before class with a Google Meet link if we move online.
Possible conditions: temperatures below 30°, torrential rain, significant ice, etc.
Our goal: hold class in person whenever possible—but we know learning happens best when dogs are comfortable.
Please reach out directly if you have any concerns or accommodations regarding virtual learning.
Minimum Enrollment Requirement
This course has a minimum enrollment of 3 dogs. If the minimum is not met, we reserve the right to cancel the class. In the event of a cancellation due to low enrollment, all registered students will be notified by one week before the start date and will receive a 100% refund of all fees paid.
